History

  • Incorporated in 1984

  • Commenced business as an independent marketer of petroleum products in February 1985

  • Obtained The Oil Marketers license in May 1988

  • Signed a bulk purchase agreement as a Petroleum Products Marketer with Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Pipelines Products Marketing Company (PPMC) later in the same year

  • Ascon moved its headquarters to Lagos in January 1991 leaving the former head office in Kano as the regional office overseeing the Northern branches of Abuja, Kaduna, Gombe and Maiduguri.

  • Ascon also maintains offices in Port Harcourt and Warri.
  • In 1999 the company completed the construction of a bulk storage terminal at Ibru Port complex. The terminal has a capacity of 35,000 MT with a loading capacity of 3 Million liters per day. Another Storage facility of 28,000 MT owned by a subsidiary, Everest Oil, was added in 2005.


Our Assets

  • A bulk petroleum storage depot at Ibafon / Tincan Island near Apapa, Lagos with 35,000 MT storage capacity and loading bays capable of handling about 200 tank trucks of 33,000 litres capacity per day.

  • A state-of the-art storage facility with storage capacity of about 28,000 MT and loading capability of 200 trucks per day. The depot also incorporates ultra-modern fire/safety installations, ATK handling capabilities and a quick efficient delivery system.

  • A new Head Office Building in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The company owns various strategic land banks in all regions of Nigeria specifically designated to be used in the development of filling stations and storage facilities, to consolidate on its position in the downstream sector.

The company also owns and operates two ocean going vessels for the bulk transportation of refined petroleum products within and outside Nigerian territorial waters. They are both of 7,000 MT capacity.
